A&W opening on East River Road in New Glasgow

A new A&W restaurant in New Glasgow is slated to be open.

It is located on East River Road right next to the Subway restaurant which is right across the street from the Aberdeen Shopping Centre. It is New Glasgow’s second A&W restaurant to be open as well as the third one in Pictou County overall as there are two other restaurants that are open in the Highland Square Mall and on North Foord Street in Stellarton.

The new standalone restaurant features a 42-seat dining area as well as a much-needed drive-thru that can ease traffic a little better much like the one in Stellarton.

If that wasn’t enough, there has been some speculation about an A&W restaurant opening up in Pictou at the rotary.

News about the possible sale and rebranding of Comedy Gold

Well as I might have read about this in the article, it is said to be believed that one of Bell Media’s finest specialty channels might be sinking to its new core.

This comes as Bell Media made a strategic deal to sold off its Comedy Gold channel to Wow Unlimited Media which is planning to turn it into a youth-oriented channel, something the company had slated to set their mind to in its assumption.

Wow Unlimited Media is a Canadian media company that specializes in animation and provides content being produced and supplied by Wow! unlimited as well as Wow! entertainment worldwide. The company also produces kids content supplied by other companies like Federator Studios and Rainmaker Studios.

Comedy Gold was first launched back in 2001 as TV Land Canada (A Canadian version of the American channel of the same name). It later became an offshoot of The Comedy Network and primilarly featured classic sitcoms. Overtime, the channel had cut back on its classic sitcom programming to include general-oriented comedy shows. While that may not be viable for one specialty channel in particular, it’s been made clear that while the channel may have seen its uproots take its turn for an unfortunate downslide, it is unreliant to think that the channel may be on the edge of a relapsed ultraverse. Since Wow! Unlimited Media approved the acquisition, the channel’s focus on classic comedy shows had been significantly downplayed and the channel began airing more of the same general-oriented programming being supplied by other Bell Media specialty channels like The Comedy Network (Soon-to be rebranded as “CTV Comedy”) and Much.

While this may come down to the realization that Comedy Gold would see their fortunes take a downplay, it is unrequited to think that Bell Media may have its own assumption to set the transfer date upon such written notice. It may be underlying to the realization in its upbringing that most people would dare to think that it is neccessary to just take it into consideration so that they would reconsider on what would be possible for the purpose of the sale and consummation of a particular channel.

If that’s not the case, It is slated that Bell Media is on the verge of shutting down Comedy Gold on August 30th, 2019. When that happens, Wow! Unlimited Media will gain control of the channel’s operations. It is highly unlikely that they will replace Comedy Gold with a channel that would cater solely to kids, teenagers and young adults but we probably won’t know about it until it comes to the realization that most of us would be caring to solute.

Teletoon’s love for adult animation

There’s been a lot of people living in Canada that have been talking about adult animation these days. As such, there are Canadian channels that have aired these shows especially during nights.

There are so many Canadian specialty channels that air mostly adult shows at any given time of day especially during nights but there are some kids channels that air adult animated shows during the nighttime as such the most frequent kids channel to do so is Teletoon.

In Teletoon’s case, however, the channel used to air adult animated shows during the late-night hours, some of the adult cartoons that have aired on Teletoon in the past (Eg: The Simpsons, Duckman etc.). The channel is most notable for airing their original programming as well as programming supplied by Cartoon Network and is still considered to be the get-go animation destination for kids and adults to this day. The channel is also most notable for airing classic cartoon shows such as The Jetsons, Scooby Doo etc, they also had a retro block called “Teletoon Retro” which launched as its own channel but has since closed down. The channel also has a French version which airs cartoon programs in French-language.

Since Teletoon was launched, it aired mostly kids programming during the day but as the day progressed, it continued to air much more mature content appropriate for all ages. In the years since, it has continued to be a cartoon channel for kids but has since started airing a more mature nighttime block better known as “The Detour on Teletoon”, a nighttime block designed to attract mature audiences and maybe even create more mature content. It has broadcasted animated programming similar in format to Adult Swim. it also had an adult-oriented “Teletoon Unleashed” block at the time but that block was short-lived and both blocks were amalgamated. In recent years, the block changed its name to “Teletoon Detour” and then to “Teletoon At Night” and has showed even more mature content intended for adult audiences.

Although it is believed that while Teletoon’s daytime schedule was made for kids and younger teenagers, their nighttime shows were intended to be made for older teen and adult audiences. There were at least a few occasions whereas Teletoon had broadcasted kids programming during the nighttime hours such as when their late-night block was reduced a few years back. By April of this year, kids programming took over the entire schedule.

While that may not be viable to say the least, it’s been made clear that Corus wanted to make a change in the upfronts developing some kind of unsourced maturity that may be intended to be unmaterialistic sometime in the near future. It clearly indicates that while all this is being reconsidered in the last upfronts, it does come as a curious development as it has shown much less approval which stands out from the maturity that most people would reconsider as an originating concept.

It comes to the realization that while all this is being said, it is highly unique that Teletoon’s love for adult animation will come to the realization that some of us would be caring to understand. As for its French counterpart, they still continue to carry on with its adult animation block even while the English Teletoon channel airs more of the same kids shows over and over especially during nighttime but that probably wouldn’t be the case for both channels as it is hard to determine whether the English version of Teletoon would revert back to airing its adult animation block or continue to air more kids programming during the nighttime hours. I’d have to say that the former would be guaranteed as it is highly unlikely for the English Teletoon channel to air more kids shows at night but that would probably be uncertain for months on end.

What would be for Teletoon’s nighttime programming in the future

It’s been over a month since Teletoon’s late-night block “Teletoon At Night” officially shut down with most of its shows heading over to the new Adult Swim channel, something Corus had slated to set their mind to.

Since the relaunch of Adult Swim Canada as a full 24-hour broadcast, it’s been made clear that Corus wanted to discontinue the late-night block on Teletoon in order for the channel to focus solely on age-appropriate programming just like they did with Cartoon Network Canada a while back.

It is highly unconfirmed whether or not the current nighttime shows airing on Teletoon would have something in common with what they choose to air nowadays but a recent blog post stated that Teletoon’s nighttime programming lineup would now consist of family-friendly content appropriate for all ages but that’s not beside the point. It’s been made clear that Corus made a bold decision to just ditch Teletoon’s nighttime adult-oriented block in favor of more kid-oriented shows.

It is said to be true that while Teletoon’s nighttime schedule would be as uneventful as it is, the real question is would Teletoon revert to its old ways by bringing back the Detour/Unleashed block that has been missing from this channel for many years before the switchover or would Corus find a new late-night block for Teletoon that would likely be similar to Detour/Unleashed? We probably won’t know about it until the time comes or unless Corus makes another attempt at another late-night programming block for Teletoon sometime in the future.

While the new Adult Swim Canada channel has been doing fairly well as a whole for at least the better part of a month since its relaunch, the real question is that a new channel owned by another Canadian cable company would be launched sometime in the near future that would cater solely to children, teens and young adults but that would be the least of its worries for months on end.

As for the French version of Teletoon, That channel is still airing adult animation at night while the English Teletoon channel airs more of the same kids stuff during the nighttime hours but hopefully these things will change for the better in the times to come.

What would be for the future of Adult Swim Canada.

With Cartoon Network Canada ready to switch to a 24-hour broadcast on March 4th, it is rumoured that Adult Swim Canada might be returning under a new separate license arrangement.

This comes as Corus finally spins the decision to kill off CN’s late-night Adult Swim block in order for the channel to focus solely on kid-friendly shows and to manifest CN’s programming slate.

With Adult Swim Canada being slated for a April 1st relaunch, Teletoon’s late night block “Teletoon At Night” will become the sole late night programming block at least for the time being.

It comes to show as many people living in Canada have been wondering what it would be like for Adult Swim Canada to relaunch as a separate broadcaster. We may not even know for sure but that would be an originating thought and an infinite possibility to say the least.

Hopefully, we won’t know about it until the time comes. Corus may have its own assumption to pay it forward.

News about Cartoon Network Canada going 24/7.

There are some news about Cartoon Network in Canada that has been spinning the media circus for months on end.

It is confirmed that starting on March 4th, Cartoon Network Canada will be going all-kid friendly all day. This means that the late night Adult Swim block will be off the CN schedule completely but that does not mean the end of Adult Swim in Canada since Corus has unofficial, unannounced plans to relaunch Adult Swim Canada on April 1st.

It was back in the Fall of 2016 when Corus made a ditch effort by cutting down Adult Swim’s runtime to 3 hours and added more classic CN programming during the late night hours. This change however did little to support the channel’s late-night programming as it has been for the last few years so it’s been made clear that Corus spins the decision to get rid of CN’s late-night block.

With this change, only Teletoon’s late-night block “Teletoon At Night” remains as the only late-night programming outlet in the Corus market at least for the time being.

However, there’s been some speculation that Adult Swim Canada will make a return but under a new separate arrangement as most people won’t even know about it until April 1st comes along.

Also, there’s been some speculation that Teletoon Detour may be coming back but who knows what’ll happen.

The unpredescented future of Adult Swim Canada

Cartoon Network Canada’s lineup after midnight hasn’t approved much since they cut down Adult Swim’s runtime to 3 hours every night (9pm-12am) and started airing more classic/original Cartoon Network programming after dark. This was not considered to be the wisest course of assumption for one Canadian specialty channel to make and also, the Adult Swim Canada website has been pretty much the same since then and there were no recent updates to be made but why would this be uncertain?

This needs to change sometime soon, there is no way that a Corus kids channel would cut back on its original programming to air more decent shows and create such a lineup that doesn’t even seem to stand well with what they would air in its schedule nowadays. The same thing goes for the Canadian version of Adult Swim but it’s hard to say why the schedule was being scaled down to 3 hours, it seemed so that Corus may have done that to make room for those classic Cartoon Network shows to air in its late night slot but why have a kids channel that would air all of its own programming and put up such a decent lineup, Don’t know why Corus made a brave decision by having Cartoon Network Canada replace some of their original shows with other decent kids shows airing on other kids channels in its lineup as well as cut down on Adult Swim’s runtime. This is why Corus is heavily over-relient on U.S. programming other than most Canadian cables nowadays.

Remember when Corus purchased the rights to U.S. channels, they had purchased the rights to both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, they had also purchased the rights to Disney programming. What they do is purchase these rights to U.S. based channels and then feed it to Canadian citizens. That is why Corus is over-relient with those programming on U.S. channels other than with its programming on Canadian channels.

They had also acquired these specialty channels from Shaw Media and then add them onto their roster. Remember when Corus shut down Teletoon Retro, that was when most of the classic cartoon shows airing on that channel moved over to the main Teletoon network which in turn, moved all of its original CN programming over to the Canadian Cartoon Network channel to match its American counterpart, they’ve had also snatched away all of its Adult Swim programming airing on Teletoon’s late night schedule “Teletoon At Night” (Formerly Teletoon Detour) and then air them on their own late-night Adult Swim block, they had also took away most of TAN’s programming and then moved them over to the Canadian Adult Swim just to shake things up a bit. However, some of TAN’s programming had since returned to its own late night block including new Canadian produced adult shows like Knuckleheads and Night Sweats, the latter of which had originally intended to air in its own late-night block on TAN as it is being distributed by Blue Ant Media. Since then, most of the adult cartoons airing on Adult Swim Canada returned to TAN and the Canadian Adult Swim was then reduced to a three hour block but why would this be unneccessary? That is why Corus is making progress on what they do with their specialty programming nowadays.

Also, some of CN’s original programming has since returned to airing on Teletoon and overtime, some of Adult Swim’s programming has returned to Teletoon’s late night schedule as well (e.g. Robot Chicken & Rick & Morty) but with all the speculation going around, I’m starting to worry that Corus may need to bolster up both adult animated blocks a bit since neither one of these blocks are most suitable to airing towards mature adult content and all they do air is mostly Canadian produced adult content as well as more decent adult shows but I do have the perfect solution for Corus to let Adult Swim Canada revert to its normal 9pm-5am slot because with only 3 hours of airtime, it needs to have much more reluctance and also, 3 hours is not much of an airtime for one late-night block to handle. In fact, I’d like to see both blocks air around the same time and end at the same time and I’d like for TAN to be on the same page as Adult Swim Canada because I wanted both late night blocks to air nightly 9pm-5am. I’d also like TAN to air only Canadian adult animated shows as well as some select programming from Adult Swim because I really do hate seeing all-night back to back marathons of shows on TAN on weeknights and I’d also like Adult Swim Canada to return to its normal time slot as it has always been since the day it launched because most people can’t stand watching only 3 hours of it every night.

If there’s any consolation to this, when will new Canadian produced shows come out?
